TURNING DATA INTO CHANGE
The INTENTION system collects hundreds of observations every day, transforming tray images into useful and comparable information.
But the real value doesn’t lie in the numbers themselves: it lies in what we can do with that data .
By monitoring what’s left on the plates, we generate knowledge, improve services, and promote a cultural shift around food.
Results and Impact
What do we do?
Food waste under control
Improved menus, less waste
Early analyses show a gradual reduction in leftovers in several canteens, thanks to small, data-informed adjustments: better portion sizes, fewer unpopular dishes, and more attention to users’ actual habits.
By reviewing weekly data, food service managers can quickly identify and adjust underperforming dishes. Some partners have already reformulated recipes based on detected waste patterns.
What is most commonly wasted?
Greater awareness among consumers
Tangible environmental impact
Users who access the WebApp “mangIA” begin to recognize their own waste patterns and adjust their choices. Simply seeing their impact, even in aggregated form, helps promote more responsible behavior.
Every gram of food not wasted saves CO₂, water, and energy. Simulations based on collected data allow us to quantify the avoided environmental impact, turning sustainability from an abstract goal into measurable results.
A reflection worth more than a thousand numbers
